Curbside Pick-Up

TO PLACE A REQUEST OR BOOK AN APPOINTMENT: 780.985.3472 or email circulation@calmarpubliclibrary.ca

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Calmar Library is proud to announce our curbside pick-up service, which will allow us to still get you library items while we are closed to the public.

An Overview:

Curbside pick-up is a service that can be used to both pick up existing held items, or request new ones! This service is offered by appointment only to ensure safe social distancing and sanitization measures can be met. Please do not come to the library for curbside pick-up if you have not yet made an appointment. Appointments are 15 minutes long to provide patrons an ample window in which to make it to the library, and there is a 5 minute interval between appointments to give staff time to sanitize surfaces, and minimize the possibility of patrons with appointments coming into contact with one another.

Curbside pick-up appointments are available during the following hours:

MONDAY  3:00 PM - 7:00 PM
TUESDAY  12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
WEDNESDAY 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM
THURSDAY 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
FRIDAY 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

How to Request Items:

Requests are best submitted by sending us an email. Please include your name, phone number, and preferably your library barcode number (found on the back of your library card).

You can request books, films, or TV shows. Let us know your favourites: authors, actors, genre, or subject matter. Please also include your format preferences (DVD vs Blu-ray, are you open to audiobooks, etc.), and how many items you are looking for. Library staff will then pull items from our shelves to fill your request. If your account is set to maintain a Reading History, staff will reference it to ensure we are selecting items you have not yet already read or watched—at least using the library!

Once we have gathered enough items, library staff will contact you to book an appointment during the hours mentioned above. Please note we are not able to arrange appointments outside of these hours.

During Your Appointment:

It is the patron's responsibility to remember when you have booked your appointment for. You cannot be early or late for your appointment, as slots may be booked back-to-back, and we cannot have patrons overlapping one another.

Within your 15 minute appointment, you must come to the library's back entrance (accessible via the alleyway) and ring the buzzer next to the door. After ringing the buzzer, step back at least 6 feet (2 meters) to ensure social distancing measures are followed. A staff member will open the door and verbally confirm you are the correct patron for this appointment.

Once confirmed, the staff member will place your items in a blue bin outside the door. Your items will be in a plastic bag and already be checked out to your account. The check-out slip with the due date(s) for your items will be in the bag as well. After the staff member is back inside the library and the door is closed, you are welcome to retrieve your items and be on your way.

Can't make your appointment? You must let us know as soon as possible, as you will need to book a new appointment for a different time and/or day. You cannot come to the library without making a new appointment.

Miss your appointment? It is the patron's responsibility to call and re-book a new appointment for a different time and/or day. Since your items will have already been checked out to you prior to your appointment, library staff will extend the due date accordingly where possible.
