Library Membership

There is no membership fee to register for a card at the Calmar Public Library.

Calmar Public Library is a member of Yellowhead Regional Library. We are also a member of The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) and The Alberta Library (TAL). Our participation in these initiatives gives our patrons access to 15 million items in over 230 Alberta libraries!

What do I need to get a library card?

In order to obtain a library card, you must provide your contact information (either via email or by filling in a form in-person), along with a copy of a piece of current, government-issued photo ID that shows your address in the town of Calmar or surrounding Leduc County area.

What if I'm new to the area and haven't had a chance to update my ID?

In addition to a piece of government-issued photo ID, the library then requires another form of documentation for proof of address. These include: utility bill, rental agreement for accommodation or a post office box, etc.

What if I'm under the age of majority (18)?

We are more than happy to issue library cards to youth patrons! In this case, there is a form that a parent or guardian will be required to fill out and sign to accept responsibility for the card and any fines or fees that may accrue. We also will require a copy of the parent or guardian's current, government-issued photo ID.

Your library card will need to be renewed on an annual basis. You will receive an email notification reminding your of your library card's expiration one month prior to its expiry date. Contact the library at 780-985-3472, via email, or stop by in person to renew your card!

Any outstanding fees accrued on your library card at the time of expiration will have to be cleared prior to renewal. Fees can only be paid in person, and at this time the library is only able to accept payments in cash.

Contact the library as soon as possible if your library card is lost or stolen to prevent unauthorized use.

There is no cost to issue a replacement card. Please note that replacing your library card will result in a change of your card's barcode number.
